Managing a Chat Room is a bit of a song and dance act. We've found a system that works pretty well. Before you can access chat, you must be 1) a registered member of the GroomerTALK Message Board, and 2) posted 25 or more messages on the message board. Then you can request a separate user name and password for the Chat Room only. See details at bottom of this page.

The Dark Before the Light. Some people need to be warned in order to keep chat a pleasant experience. So be it. Abuse can happen, but it is has become rare. If you misuse chat it can result in your being banned from both chat and the message board. Here are some hints. Protect your password, and never share it even once. Some members have done a friend a favor only to find out their password was misused. Your username and password are for your use only. Also, realize any chat or message board can have impostors. If you setup your computer to "remember me" for logins, couldn't someone with access to your computer go to sites like ours and be automatically be logged in? Yes, there is a risk for that convenience. We have no control of members not exercising good security of their computer and logins. Now the big "Don't's."

Most important: Never selling anything. Do NOT identify current, past or future employers. No venting rants. No bashing employers, products, services, employees, members or pet owners. No gossip about other members. No sharing personal information like addresses or phones, that's for PM only. Please report violators to findagroomer@earthlink.net. Your name will remain anonymous. Help us to keep the Chat open 24/7. Today, we have zero tolerance for anyone breaking these rules.

SpeakerCHAT is about guest speakers in a special chat room here. More info coming in Spring 2009. If you you miss a SpeakerCHAT session, don't worry. Be happy. We will release transcripts for future reference for those not chat members, or members that simply couldn't make it. There are attendance limits. We expect standing room only for some events.

Transcript Advisory. We record a daily transcript to review for violations. Transcripts are for our private use. Please do not request copies. You won't get one. Whew! Let's have fun. Please scroll down to the Chat interface below.

Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive. Check your upper and lower case letters if you have a sign-in problem.

JAVA Required. This chat room uses the programming language JAVA. Your computer must have current JAVA installed. We cannot install it on your computer for you. You can load JAVA on your computer by visiting www.java.com for a free installation. Also, JAVA updates are released occasionally, you can check to see if you have the most current version. Hundreds of thousands of websites use JAVA. Pop-up Windows. Occasionally a feature of the chat rooms may require a pop-up window, not advertising. Be sure to temporarily disable pop-up window blockers if you use them.	Registration and Track Record Required. We have strict guidelines for accessing our chat rooms. You must 1) be a registered member of the GroomerTALK Message Board in good standing, 2) have already posted at least 25 messages on the message board and 3) after reaching 25 messages request a password for chat. Your request will be considered and a password sent to you within 7 days. When eligible request your chat sign-up by posting a reply on the EXISTING Chat Sign-up Forum on the message board in the GroomerTALK Orientation Category of forums. NEVER start a new thread to request sign-up or send a PM to Admin. It won't be honored. Thanks.
Multiple Rooms. Once you enter the Lobby Chat Room, your starting point, you may enter other open chat rooms if open. You can view the list of rooms by clicking Show Rooms button. It will also let you know how many users are in the other rooms before you move to another room. You may want to move to other rooms when some are crowded.	Share the floor. Well, right to the point. No one owns a room. Please always share the floor and make everyone feel welcome. Mobile groomers may congregate in the Mobile2mobile room, but again, please welcome others. The Chat Room cannot be used to rally, stage or encourage dissent against other members, advertisers or management. Direct comments to the Admin instead by email below.
Shouting. Do not type in all caps letters, and the system will likely stop you from doing so. It is called shouting, and it's also very hard to read. Disclaimer Notice. Never share your login info with anyone. Help us to prevent impostors here. Also if you leave chat, be sure to exit completely so the next user on your computer cannot easily access chat.
